NASA’s TESS mission has found its first earth-sized planet in the habitable zone of a star. this means the planet, called TOI 700 d

, has the potential to be a water-covered planet. so, obviously, TOI 700 d’s parent star is TOI 700 (DUH). and TOI 700 is a red dwarf star about 40 percent of the mass & size of the sun. TESS first discovered TOI 700 b, then c, then d.after some more observations the scientists noticed that b &d were probably rocky and earth size, while the middle world is a gas giant.

but, TOI 700 is actually (barely) in the habitable zone!
