Today, we again spent some time in the morning going for a walk. It was the perfect day to do so because the weather was spectacular. And it was a great way for Ethan to burn off some energy first thing in the morning because we had a few things to do today before heading to my uncle’s house for a family dinner.

Morning Fun

The beach is such a great place to go, especially in the morning as a way to start the day.

Helping with Breakfast

Ethan’s helped out with making breakfast the past couple of days. Nice to have him learning how to prepare food.

Time for some work

Today, Ethan worked on division by practicing some worksheets, but we also made our own questions for him to try. We then practiced some Cantonese words that were inspired by our breakfast. We’d like Ethan to learn some Cantonese so that he can talk to his grandparents a little more easily.

And finally, we started reading Pinnochio, which Ethan found quite fun. We may do a Charlotte Mason style thing where Ethan narrates what we’ve read, either orally or written. Today, I simply asked him questions about the story. He wasn’t too keen on answering questions, so we’ll see how it goes.

He also finished one last card we had to make.

Dinner with Family

We have an annual Christmas dinner with my uncles, aunts and cousins. Everyone’s grown up and either married or engaged, so it means it’s more difficult to see everyone. But it was nice to get almost everyone together for dinner and to catch up. It’s always nice to spend time with family and we will try to do it more in the future.

Ethan brought along Monopoly Deal to play after dinner.

And Ethan even got some presents, so he was very happy.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2017. It’s been an eventful and memorable year in so many ways. Hopefully, we continue to grow and learn from our past experiences as parents, children, spouses and citizens of the world.
