Monday: This week, I started doing the nature school summer internship again! It was really fun because today I get to meet all the tiny little kids (and I know what you’re thinking but no they aren’t that cute :P). I also got to play all the games and activities and stuff, so it’s not just me helping all day. When I got back home, I started doing some maths (of course) and some coding (of course). The stuff I did is down below!

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: umm i forgot to write anything lol

Friday: I… Um… Coded. All. Day. I mean AFTER I got back from nature school, of course. I coded a parallax thingy in Scratch, find out about it at the bottom!

Saturday: I coded… Again, and I continued that parallax thingy from Friday.

Sunday: This technically isn’t part of the week, but I made a video series about how to make a falling sand simulation in Scratch! I got to teach simple grid handling and movement! It’s uploaded, and here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex36XUcarAU

I saw a really cool music visualizer on Scratch where you check the different frequencies of the music, and then each bar represents how much of that frequency is present… anyway, it’s really cool and I want to make it. It looks like one of those music visualizers from the internet. it’s really cool.
Here is another version of that.
I started making this calculator on Scratch. I got to learn about how some calculators work and especially what happens if somebody puts in an invalid calculation, such as 5/0. (In my calculator, if you divide by 0, you get a 12-second song of “The Final Countdown”)
Turns out that PAPAL is the longest word, and SPA is the pointiest. So why is PAPAL the longest, instead of something like Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis? Well, it’s the record holder for any five-letter word that has the farthest distance between two letters. So for example, P and A are far apart on a QWERTY keyboard, and so are A and L. And SPA is the pointiest because the angle between S, P and A are under one degree!
I made a parallax background with help from a video by my favourite Scratcher, Griffpatch (obviously). This is a cat running through a field of… well… rocks and trees. To make this GIF, I had to first take a bunch of photos rapidly, and then I had to put all those photos through an online place where you make GIFs.

Weekly nature school report: I really enjoyed nature school this week because of the really nice teachers that were there this week. However, the kids were very rowdy but did listen when they were supposed to, like when there was a cool activity or a fun story.

Speaking of games, we played a bunch this week, such as Plantball (basically dodgeball but with plants and illnesses)(one of my personal favourites), and a game called (with the very serious name of) “Oh no, I’m Poop!” (Told you it was serious), which is an addition of “Everybody’s it tag” + “Manhunt”.

Other than games, we did many activities, such as (my personal favourite) cordage, where you weave together pieces of cattail (which is a plant that grows in swamps and stuff and isn’t very strong) to create a very strong rope. Another activity was a blindfolded walking challenge, where you have one hand on a rope and you need to follow where the rope goes, and get to the end without falling or losing the rope along the way.

All in all, it was a very fun week, punctuated with many ups and downs, games with funny serious names, and weaving.
