Ethan woke up this morning not feeling well. He caught some sort of a cold and had a fever, so it was going to be a day of rest. Well, it was sort of a day of rest because he spent most of the day in our bed watching educational programs online.

Not sure where or who he caught his cold from, but Ethan wasn’t doing too well in the morning. But after some Ibuprofen to bring down the fever, he was feeling ok and spent some time reading.

I also read to him and we managed to finish the Norse Mythology book. Ethan quite enjoyed it and we both liked the stories of Loki and Thor. Ethan has never seen the Marvel comics so it was good that he enjoyed the original myths.

Educational programs

We love that SelfDesign has memberships with several very good online learning programs, such as Brain Pop and Dream Box. Ethan loves both of those and is also a big fan of Discovery Education. And a free one, Khan Academy, is a favourite for all the amazing academic lessons they have.

With Dream Box, Ethan can practice math in bite-size chunks.

While watching Brain Pop, Ethan learned about how touch screens work.

And also about what a range is in math.

As we checked in on him throughout the day, we saw that he was learning about things such as:

  • What robots are
  • AI
  • Sleep cycles and why humans need sleep
  • And a few other topics that we didn’t catch 🙂

He also read a number of science books that we brought in.

That was pretty much Ethan’s day today. He chilled out and spent a lot of time reading and watching educational programs.

Hopefully, he’ll be over his cold sooner than later, but at least we know he won’t be bored, even though he might have to stay in bed a lot.
